Boy Breaks T-Shirt World Record
12 year-old breaks world record for most number of T-shirts worn. Squeezes into 168 T-shirts to benefit polluted pond cleanup.
/Apparel - Textile PR News/ - EASTHAMPTON, MA, June 16, 2007 - Most sixth graders just went to school yesterday, but Austin Crow broke a World Record, saved a local pond, and raised over $1,500. Piling 80lbs. of t-shirts on his 111 lb. frame, Austin couldn't fit through doors, drank mom-administered ginger ale through a straw, and pondered aloud, "I wonder if a monkey could do this?"
But a monkey would not have the wherewithal to don 168 t-shirts reaching size 7XL in order to help save the environment and make a difference in the world.
Austin gets his inspiration from his dad, Clay Crow, who co-owns Mantis Graphics with his best friend, Brad Robbins. A family run company specializing in screenprinted and embroidered apparel, signage, and graphic design, Mantis strives to protect the earth by using environmentally friendly products and humane practices - they are a true, green company. www.mantisgraphics.com
The money raised from the World Record T-shirt event will help save Nashawannuk Pond, a local treasure. Today, Austin was back at school, but he has his sights set on his next feat - pants.
